CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A woman in Green River is crocheting hats for children. She plans to donate the money from Kenzie’s Caps to charity.

“I have Spiderman, I have Poppy, I have girls and boys, and big and little so they’re all different. I even have some snowman ones, so just some fun ones to put a smile on their face,” said Helen Vaughn.

Helen’s daughter Kenzie was diagnosed with leukemia at fourteen months old. When her daughter relapsed in 2017, Helen picked up crocheting while Kenzie went through chemo therapy.

Kenzie passed away in 2019, but her memory still lives on through this project. Helen will be donating the money raised and left-over hats around Christmas time.

Jason’s Friends Foundation supported the family during Kenzie’s treatments, and Helen wants to give back to them.

“Jason’s Friends has been there for us from the very beginning and so it’s definitely an easy thing to give back to because I want to help those kids in need as well,” said Vaughn.

All of the donations from the hat sales will be donated in Kenzie’s name.
