CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - 27 applicants turned into four winners as Visit Casper concluded their first ever Business Challenge. The challenge featured mentor-ship opportunities and more to see what businesses would flourish in Casper.

“Our goal with the business challenge was really to kind of jump start our tourism industry post pandemic, but beyond that it’s really just been a great opportunity to connect with these businesses and be able to give them some insight into the tourism industry,” said Amanda Scherlin, the Director of Marketing for Visit Casper.

The Visit Casper Business Challenge was possible through CARES funding the help drive tourism growth. 50,000 dollars was allocated among four businesses. C Bracket Horse Farm received 20,000 dollars to help expand horseback trail rides. Old Town Family Fun, Barbarian Coffee Roasters, and Alcova Resort received 10,000 dollars. Each winner is able to continue receiving mentor-ship and in-kind legal and financial support. Visit Casper says these businesses will not only bring new activities for tourists, but residents as well.

“The thing about tourism is not only do they serve visitors and help our visitors have a great experience, they’re also things that residents can take advantage of. They really improve our quality of life as people who live here so we’re super excited,” said Scherlin.

Plans are already in the works for the 2022 Visit Casper Business Challenge.
