CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Natrona County High School’s Sophie Spiva will not have to travel to continue her athletic journey. On Monday afternoon, she signed her letter of intent to join the University of Wyoming golf team.

With her parents flanked on her left and right and friends and family gathered in the Natrona County commons, she made her college intentions official.

Spiva was a four-time all-state selection for her performance on the golf course during high school. She finished fourth in the 4A State Golf Tournament this fall.

After she put pen to paper, Spiva said it was “really cool” to be able to represent her home state at the collegiate level.

“I love that it’s close but yet far enough away, but it really does feel like home,” said Spiva.

She also said she was looking forward to traveling for college golf. She picked Wyoming over interest and offers from Boise State, South Dakota and Black Hills State.
