CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Just like yesterday, those warm and windy conditions stuck around. This time, temperatures got even warmer with the help of the westerly winds and many cities got close to record heat. It’s hard to believe that it is the middle of November when temperatures are in the 60s and 70s. This time of year, most places should be in the mid to upper 40s. If you aren’t a fan of these above average conditions, the cure is on the way. A strong cold front from the Pacific Northwest is making its way towards the Cowboy State. These should drop off temperatures significantly for the next few days. It isn’t supposed to have any significant cool downs until tomorrow night. By then, highs will drop about 30 degrees into the 30s and lows will drop anywhere from 30-40 degrees being in those 10s and 20s. This front, while still being very strong, isn’t carrying a lot of moisture with it. As a result, there won’t be much rain or snow coming in as it moves through. Mountain ranges and high elevations out to the west can expect some snow, but nothing more than a few inches at most. Just expect increased cloud cover more than anything.

Another sign that the front is moving through will be a change in the winds. These windy and breezy conditions along with the strong gusts will stick around for a while, but instead of coming from the west, they will be coming from the north, the direction the front is moving in. I can still see a number of highway and interstate delays and closures as these gusts are getting up to 40 and 50 MPH. Be sure to use caution if you work outside or drive any high profile vehicles.

Tonight, we are still going to be stuck with those above average temperatures. Most of the big cities will see those 50s while higher elevations and farther west can see those 40s and 30s tonight. Just like last night, this is due to the mostly cloudy skies and the warm air being blown in from the far west. Tomorrow, slightly cooler when compared with today. Highs will be in those 50s and 60s with the northwest cooling down as the front is expected to hit them first, as usual. If these warm temperatures are not your cup of tea, wait until Wednesday as the next big cool down is on the way.
