CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Governor Mark Gordon held a news conference today surrounding the details of the state budget for the upcoming 2022-2023 window.

The budget decreased from last last year. It’s now set at $2.3 billion, down from the previous $2.8 billion.

Other focuses were getting worker wages closer to market price, as well as emphasis on improving education across the state.

As for how the budget is constructed, the process was open for discussion from those receiving government funding.

“What we did is we began by saying we want as close to flax budget as we can possibly have, and then we allowed agencies to come in with exception requests,” said governor Gordon during his conference.

The aim of certain aspects of the budget is to provide Wyoming with the opportunity to “control it’s destiny” in protecting jobs and interests against the Federal Government.
