CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A Greeley dentist is doing his part to take care of veterans in the region, with ‘Smiles for Soldiers.’ ‘Smiles for Soldiers’ is a one-day clinic Dr. David Luker held for veterans to receive free dental work.

“There is such a need, just right here, I feel like it is worthwhile,” said Dr. Luker. “I know we are just one clinic and I just have my own office and we are doing what we can; we see a lot of veterans in our own practice, but I know there is a lot that don’t have routine or regular dental care and can’t afford to have that done.”

Dr. Luker is providing same-day dental work to veterans from all over, including Wyoming, and was able to provide services to 28 of them. He said the event was a hit, and they were completely booked soon after spreading the word through the local VA.

Dr. Luker, a veteran himself, said the opportunity to serve those who serve us in this specific way, means more than anything else.

“That is my hope with all this; it is good to serve and do something with my own hands, but I hope that other people can look and see, you know, and ask themselves, ‘What can I do?’” said Luker.

The ‘Smiles for Soldiers’ for Veterans Day of 2021 concluded, but Dr. Luker said the goal for next year is to get more area dentists to participate, so more veterans in the region can receive services.
