CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Business travel is still down, and Visit Casper is encouraging locals and people from out of state to use the Casper International Airport.

Brook Kaufman, the Visit Casper CEO, said the new Fly Casper Campaign is a three-prong approach. “We’ll be using our PR agency to help get the word out to the Salt Lake market to help drive awareness. For the second piece, we are going to communicate directly with business owners in Natrona County and tell them how important this flight is. The last piece is some support on the marketing side where we are driving utility in that airline,” Kaufman said.

About a month ago, county officials approved subsidized funding for the airport. Kaufman said Visit Casper couldn’t help with any funds to secure the minimum revenue to secure one Delta flight because of lodging tax dollars. Kaufman understands it’s expensive to fly out of the Casper airport for leisure, but is optimistic travel will come back.

“As we make our way back from [COVID] businesses will start to travel again with meetings and conventions happening at the rate they used to. I think we are going to see the business traveler return to rates we saw in 2017 and before. This is just a stop-gap for us to see how we can continue to drive awareness and get people back on those planes,” Kaufman said.
