Cold and Windy
10 November 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The sun is back out again today, but those temperatures took a sharp drop compared to yesterday. Lows overnight where warm for this time of year and we didn’t warm up much from there. Wyoming winds are back in the forecast with gusts getting over 40 MPH some cities. These strong and windy conditions don’t look to be dying down for much of this week. The eastern side of the state can expect the breezy conditions to last into the weekend on top of the cool temperatures. As a result, there are a number of interstate and highway impacts from the wind.
The good news is there isn’t much in terms of snow and rain causing low visibility or dangerous driving conditions. Tomorrow afternoon and evening, the northern and mountainous regions can expect to see some snow fall with the possibility of a dusting in Casper and Cheyenne. Because it is still early in the season and temperatures have been too warm lately, I don’t expect much if any accumulation with the exception of the mountains and high elevations. Clouds will be moving through the state as well during this time.
Tonight, thanks to the front, temperatures will be dropping off to below freezing levels for much of the state. Keep in mind that this is normal for this time of year but rare given how warm we have been much of this season. Tomorrow, expect similar conditions to what we saw today with cool temperatures, strong wind gusts, but also now the increase in clouds and chance for rain, mixed precipitation, or snow depending on the temperature at the time. Not much else is expected in terms of precipitation for the remainder of the week but the cool temperatures and strong winds will be sticking around.
