CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Veteran’s Day is coming up and a local veteran wants to give back to those currently serving or who have served.

Stacia Smith, The Oil City Salon co-owner, served in the United States Army for 12 years and wants to give back. “I want to keep serving and I want the vets out there to understand I’m here for them,” Smith said.

She wants her salon to be a safe space for veterans. “I want them to know they have a secure spot in my chair to talk about anything they want to and that it’s not going anywhere. If they need help I have the right resources for them,” Smith said.

Smith had to leave the military because of a knee injury. She loved what she did and wants to help others currently serving. “I love my country so much. I love my service and my job and when it was over I kinda felt like I was alone,” Smith said.

Her favorite part about giving free haircuts is listening to stories veterans share with each other. “It’s fun watching the camaraderie between people who served in World War II to Afghanistan and see their connection,” Smith said.

Smith and her colleagues are giving haircuts at Oil City Salon starting at 8: 30 a.m. They are located on the corner of Midwest and Wolcott at 242 S Wolcott.
