Casper Mountain Young Marines to host ice cream social for veterans

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Young Marines of Casper are hosting an ice cream social for Veterans Day.

“There’s gonna be free ice cream for veterans and like a meet and greet we talk to veterans just ask them about the time that they served and then just having basic conversations,” said Casper Senior Young Marine Matthew Harvey.

Casper Mountain Young Marines is for children ages eight to 18. The goal of the group is to enrich the lives of youth and provide them with education and opportunities to improve their community. Members of the Young Marines participate in community service locally and across the country. The group emphasizes honoring veterans year-round.

The ice cream social event will be hosted at Old Town Family Fun at 301 West E Street behind the Clarion Inn.

“It’s really cool to see where our program what it was inspired by and like how its progressed throughout history and how it’s still happening today and being able to share with the people who have served and protected us,” said Harvey.

The social will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
