DOUGLAS, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Douglas High School has not been to the state championship game since they went in back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014, but they will have the chance to change that on Friday. The Bearcats will host Jackson for the second consecutive year in the 3A semifinals.

Douglas was able to advance after avenging their only loss of the season against Powell. The Bearcats knocked off the Panthers 14-10 in the first round.

Last season, Douglas hosted Jackson in the semifinals, and the Broncs came away victorious 21-14. A couple of this year’s Bearcats said they believe last year’s loss will motivate them on Friday.

“Most of our guys were here last year and we all felt that hurt and that terrible feeling of losing on our home field in the playoffs,” said Douglas Senior Wide Receiver and Cornerback Rylan Wehr. “And so I think that’s gonna help us drive to beat Jackson.”

Senior Running Back and Outside Linebacker Keltan Ewing said, “I think it gives us a little extra edge and a little fire to get revenge from last year and get that win.”

Douglas Head Coach Jay Rhoades said he didn’t put much stock in getting revenge, but he’s focused on this year’s team. “I think the resiliency of this team is really, really high, and so I’m looking forward to these guys just going out and competing and watching them compete.”

The kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Douglas.
