Laramie County Sheriff’s Office warning of scammers posing as deputies

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Release) - People in Laramie County have been receiving phone calls from somebody claiming to be Lieutenant Johnson or another person affiliated with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office. When the call has been answered, people are told they need to update their information so they can be served a jury summons. If they refuse to give their information, a warrant will be issued for their arrest.

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office will never ask you for personal information or any form of payment over the phone. Be careful to not fall for one of these scams. The scams originate outside of our jurisdiction and are not investigated by any agency. If you have questions or would like to make us aware of a scam, you can call 633-4751.
