Here Comes the Snow
19 October 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Alright, round 2 of snow began moving through the big cities starting this morning going into lunch time. Temperatures around the cities are still close to the freezing line so we saw lots of mixed precipitation with big, slushy snowflakes. Because it is still warm, a lot of the snow in the southeastern regions just melted causing the roads to be slick with a few icy patches. Today is definitely the day to give some extra time if you plan on traveling or even just going to work or heading home. Be mindful of other cars too by brushing any snow and ice off before you begin driving and also giving people extra space. This cold front cooled us down a lot compared to this time yesterday. Many places are seeing a drop of about 30 degrees.
We do have some road closures , but nothing as bad as what we saw last week. The wind is still blowing causing some delays and lowing visibility. Gusts could get as high as 40 MPH as the winter storm keeps moving through. Good news is that it will not last as long as last week’s either. By the later parts of this evening going into the overnight hours, much of the precipitation will move out to the east into the Nebraska panhandle and South Dakota. I will have the snow totals for the state once the readings are released by the National Weather Service.
Until then, tonight we will continue to see snow and precipitation until around midnight, then it will calm down as temperatures will stay around the freezing point. Tomorrow, the clouds will stick around but there is no chance of precipitation of any kind. Temperatures will be on the cooler side, maybe slightly below seasonable levels. We will begin warming up toward the end of the week to above seasonable levels, but not like what we saw over the weekend.
