Cool Down Coming Early
17 October 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - This weekend turned out to be very nice with temperatures on the warmer side. Skies were mostly clear and there was a slight breeze. Today, the temperatures were above average, but I would enjoy it while you can because we will cooling down quickly by Tuesday. A new cold front is coming in bringing in more snow and cooler temperatures. Not as much as what we saw last week, but some accumulation in the central regions and more so just a dusting in the southern regions.
We will keep you updated if we suspect any road closures. Models are all over the place in terms of snowfall estimates to the point that the National Weather Service is still uncertain. As a result, I do not want to share any snow totals on social media until we get closer or the models come to an agreement. Until then, expect clouds and showers to start rolling in from the west cooling off that side of the state first. Expect the snow to first begin falling the mountains out to the west and then the snow to move over to the bigger cities for the rest of the state on Tuesday night. During the daytime, most of the temperatures will still be above freezing, so just expect some rain followed by some mixed precipitation. If the cold weather is not your thing, don’t worry.
Temperatures look to be warming back up to more seasonable levels by the end of week. Just think of this pattern as similar to last week, but with less snow and slightly warmer temperatures. Tonight, temperatures will be a little bit above average as we cool off from the warm day. Clouds will slowly start to roll in, but nothing in terms of precipitation is expected. Tomorrow’s temperatures will lower than today, but still above average, at least until the front makes it’s way through. We will keep you updated on snow totals once the models reach some kind of similar agreement.
