Two schools clash for their first victory of the season on Friday night
The Wyoming News Now Friday Night Frenzy Game of the Week features two winless teams that have plenty on the line when they match up Friday in Cheyenne.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Friday Night Frenzy Game of the Week will feature two teams that are winless on the season, but there are plenty of storylines surrounding Laramie’s trip to Cheyenne South on Friday.
Laramie leads the all-time series 8-2 between these two schools, but South’s last win was against Laramie in 2019. It was a 36-35 classic.
It’s also Senior Night for the Bison, so they’ll be looking to repeat what they pulled off in 2019 one final time.
“It’d mean a lot, and I know it’s senior night, so a lot of the seniors want to get their first win, and it would just be great to get a win like we did two years ago against Laramie,” said South Senior Lars Quinlivan.
Fellow Bison Senior Jakub Randles said, “Our record might not show it, but we still show determination and effort.”
For Laramie, it’s an opportunity for new their new head coach to get his first win under his belt in Wyoming. The Plainsmen also have an opportunity to win their last two games and crack the 4A State Playoffs, but it starts with a win against South.
“We never doubt an opponent when we go against them,” said Laramie Senior Cooper Gray. We’re just trying to work hard, put our best on the field, and we’re confident in ourselves that we can win.”
“We’re treating it like a playoff game,” said Laramie’s Coach Ronga. “You win and you continue and you lose and you’re out. It’s either us or them.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on the south side of Cheyenne.
