LARAMIE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - After dropping its Mountain West Conference opener, the University of Wyoming Cowboys will return to Laramie to host Fresno State on Saturday. The Cowboys are still 4-1 to begin the year.

The Bulldogs are 4-2 so far this season and have split a pair of Mountain West Conference games. In their most recent conference outing, they were stunned at Hawaii 27-24.

Fresno State Quarterback Jake Haener will lead an elite aerial attack into War Memorial Stadium this weekend. He’s been the arm behind the third-best passing game in the country, according to passing yards per game.

The senior has thrown for 2,230 yards through the air, and he’s tossed 18 touchdowns, too. That’s one more than the entire Cowboy offense combined so far this season.

In Monday’s press conference, UW Head Football Coach Craig Bohl said one of the things that the team did gain during the loss at Air Force was increased confidence in the depth along the defensive line.

It’ll be imperative for that group to get pressure on Haener, who threw four interceptions and was sacked three times in the loss at Hawaii.

“We need to get pressure on Haener,” emphasized Bohl on Monday. “We need to get him moving around, so that’s gonna mean we’ll bring a backer occasionally. We’ll blitz some, but we gotta do it with four men, and so those guys up front, not only the inside guys, but the flank guys have gotta get some pressure.”

The kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on FS2.
