CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Regional Airport held a meeting Thursday.

The main topics of discussion were the runway project, wrapping up the subsequent two phases of the airport construction, and U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis, (R), Wyoming.

“The senator really went to bat for us., not only for the airport but for the state. And we’re hoping that with her help we’ll be able to get this project done on time in the future and have a minimal impact to the community,” said Tim Barth, Airport Director, Cheyenne Regional Airport.

U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis spoke to Congress and the FAA regarding Cheyenne Regional Airport funding.

The regional airport committee said commercial air service would start on Nov. 1st, and the 2 flight services will start on Nov. 2nd, just in time for the holiday season.

Now that the new terminal is completed, preliminary assessments of the old terminal are being reviewed.

“We’ve got our preliminary assessments done on the building done and some preliminary budget costs. So after the first of the year we’ll be really ready to bring forward the community discussion on this piece of property. We’re really excited to have both of these discussions today with the airport,” said Barth.

The third phase of airport construction will start next May and the airport restaurant Billy Jacks pizza pub is currently being constructed.
