CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - After much of the whole state saw their first snowfall of the season, we are beginning to calm back down and warm back up. Snowfall totals are still coming in so I will be sure to have those number available to you on social media. In the meantime, highways and interstates are starting to open up again as the snow begins melting away and crews clear out the worst of it. Some of the roads are still closed, but it not from the snow, rather the high wind speeds. There are high wind warnings in effect for the southeastern corner of the state as gusts between 50-60 MPH will be possible, and some winter weather warnings in the northeast due to the last bit of the cold front still moving out.
While the weather is calming down a good bit, it is not finished just yet. Starting tomorrow, we can start to see some snow showers moving through the northwestern regions of the state. These are just predicted to be showers with very little in terms of accumulation. Most of the models are saying less than 2 inches throughout that region with a light dusting across the southern regions. Nothing to be concerned about as we will warm back up to more seasonable temperatures going into the weekend.
Overnight tonight, temperatures around the state will drop back to levels below freezing so be sure to watch out for patchy ice if you plan on traveling. Winds will begin calming down too, but just be cautious especially if you drive a high profile vehicle. Tomorrow, expect some light dustings and mostly cloudy skies with these cool temperatures sticking around for just a little bit longer.
