Teton County Coroner Discloses Findings From Petito Autopsy
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On Tuesday, Oct. 12 the Teton County Coroners Office held a press conference to disclose the findings of Gabrielle Venora Petito’s autopsy. The coroner was only allowed to relate the cause and manor of death of the victim. The cause being death by strangulation and the manor of which being homicide.
The time of death is estimated to have been three to four weeks before the body was found on Sept. 19, 2021. The Coroners Office used CT scans to help determine cause of death along with sending samples to forensic entomologists.
Teton County Coroner Dr.Brent Blue was not able to reveal whether the strangulation was performed manually or with a foreign object. The doctor also had no comment on whether or not he believes that Brian Laundrie, the cases prime suspect, was responsible for the murder.
The entirety of the autopsy was conducted in the Teton County Morgue.
