Active Weekend Ahead
8 October 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Weather today is similar to what we saw yesterday but with slightly cooler temperatures and a lot more cloud cover. There is also lots of widespread showers and storms throughout the state. Much of the activity is remaining in the western regions with the slight chance for severe weather and lots of snow in the mountains. The good news is that the smoke is having very little impact around the state thanks to the stronger winds and abundance of rain. By tomorrow morning and afternoon, there will be next to no smoke whatsoever throughout the Cowboy State.
We are still keeping track of the showers and storms moving around. Expect this to be the story for much of the weekend with temperatures dropping off tomorrow. Our surface map is showing how the front is stalled out over the state right now, causing a lot of these showers and clouds. It’ll move out by late on Saturday giving us a good soaking until then. At least this should help out our drought conditions in the mean time. Conditions plan on calming down by Sunday with cooler temperatures and clearer skies. That is, until the next front comes through on Monday and Tuesday likely bringing us our first snowfall of the season.
Until then, expect temperatures to still be on the warmer side overnight. Winds and strong gusts will be picking up too as the front moves along. Tomorrow will be cooler outside with strong winds and the chances for more scattered showers and storms. Aside from that, it might be time to start dusting off those winter clothes because we will need it sooner than later.
