Spring Hill Apartments to add seven ADA units and more updates
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Spring Hill Apartments is getting its first complete update since it was built in the 1970s. Crews are working on the railing, stairs on the outside. Updates on the inside include new floors, appliances and an open kitchen layout.
“The kitchen layout is totally different. It’s an L shape now. Before it had a countertop that separated the space,” said Paula Travers, the Wyoming Housing Network Director of Real Estate Portfolio Director said.
Spring Hill Apartments hasn’t had a complete renovation like this since the 1970s. Spring Hill Apartments is for low-income families or individuals on an application-based basis. Current residents living in the units crews are working on have been relocated.
“We are using hotel units within the project the relocation company is taking tenants from this building and moved them to other units within the project. When it’s done they will move back into their previous unit,” Travers said.
They hope to have this project complete in about two years. They are working on seven new ADA units as an addition to this project. and working on a total of 127 rental units.
Jim Grenfell, the Wyoming Housing Network Executive Director, said it’s rewarding to be a part of this project. “It’s so important for residents’ self-esteem to have a nice place to come home after they work,” Grenfell said.
