Next Few Days Nice, But Warm
3 October 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - It has been really nice outside for the past few days ever since that strong cold front moved through. Temperatures are starting to get a little on the warmer side for this time of year, but it won’t last long. At least the smoke is staying on the lighter side, making it easier to go outside and enjoy it before the snow starts coming in. Our forecast models are showing that the smoke will continue to stick to the southern region of the state, but still light enough as to not prompt the National Weather Service to issue any air quality warnings.
Conditions are expected to continue getting warmer going into the early parts of the week, but not enough that we could see any record high temperatures. That will be changing up sooner than later as we expect to a cold front moving in from the Pacific Northwest. If you aren’t ready for the colder temperatures yet, there is no reason to be concerned. This frontal system is expected to stall out over Idaho by the middle of the week. What we can expect is some increased cloud cover and rain chances because of it. Much of it will remain in the western half of the state, but it’ll slowly start to move over the rest of Wyoming.
Temperatures will begin dropping slightly to more seasonable conditions due to rain and shade. Until then, tonight looks to be clear and cool. Lows are expected to be in the 30s and 40s across the state, slightly above average. Tomorrow, conditions will be similar to what we saw today, very little haze and mostly clear skies. The only difference is that the highs will be more so in the mid to upper 70s with some cities reaching the lower 80s. Beyond that, this looks to be last time that we see temperatures this warm for a little bit.
