CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Urban Renewal Authority meets Thursday. The Urban Renewal Authority is considering and reviewing two applications for grant funds.

One project, the Hitching Post, is up for remediation of contaminants and demolition. The total of the project is $1.2 million and was approved by the URA.

The other project was for the lot commonly called the “back 40.” It’s slotted for mixed-use development and affordable housing.

The project requested an extension of grant street entrance and utilities. This project will be postponed for further review in mid-October.

“This urban renewal authority and tiff district get together those are great tools to help redevelop areas, that have sat stagnant and have become nuances and eyesores in the community and we’re excited to see this project move forward,” said Charles Bloom, Planning and Development Director, City of Cheyenne.

The URA, along with tax increment financing, reviews blighted areas in Cheyenne for revitalization.
