LCCC celebrates National Manufacturing Day
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (LCCC RELEASE) - Laramie County Community College will recognize National Manufacturing Day on Friday, Oct. 1 with community partners from across the region and hands-on experiences. Manufacturing Day is designed to show students, parents and the public what modern manufacturing is about. One of the fastest growing career fields, manufacturers are seeking to fill four million high-skill, high-tech and high-paying jobs over the next decade.
LCCC will celebrate Manufacturing day with a proclamation from Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins in the Center for Conferences and Institutes, Union Pacific Centennial Room 130 on the LCCC campus at 11 a.m. Following comments by Mayor Collins, there will be a demonstration of Amatrol’s Skill Boss assessment system; designed to assess the hands-on skills needed by today’s modern manufacturing production areas.
Reservations for the industry tours are closed, media are invited to attend the proclamation by Mayor Collins and the Skill Boss demonstration.
LCCC will continue to highlight careers in manufacturing by hosting a career exploration for youth on Saturday, Oct. 2, through the School of Outreach & Workforce Development. This event invites 1-6 graders to take part in hands-on learning, by flying drones, learning how a 3D printer works, experimenting with robotics and building a computer. Youth camp reservations can be made online at lccc.coursestorm.com or by calling 307-772-7351.
Due to the increased need for a trained workforce and the growth in manufacturing careers, LCCC is working on developing and starting an advanced manufacturing program to provide the needed workforce and assist with the economic growth opportunities in Southeast Wyoming.
