Here Comes The Cool Down
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
There are several clouds moving into Wyoming throughout the day today. Along with a few of these clouds, rain showers are beginning to form and moving in along with the clouds. These clouds and showers are pushing in from both the west and south of the state.
Throughout the day today, clouds will continue pushing in towards the center of the state and will bring a few showers along. The rain chance increase overnight when the showers form a line down the center of the state vertically to push to the eastern half of the state. These showers will continue in the overnight hours tonight and through the day and evening tomorrow. Snow is likely to form in the mountainous regions of the state with such cool temperatures behind this frontal system moving across.
Smoke is remaining to be heaviest in the southwestern corner of Wyoming throughout the day today. But as this frontal system makes its way in state, the clouds and rain showers associated with it will help to clear out a lot of the smoke conditions seen across the state.
The northeastern corner is under both an Elevated and Critical Fire Risk again today. Since warmer temperatures are continuing today in the northeast and wind speeds are increasing with the movement of the front, this is why this area of Wyoming is under a Fire Risk.
There are two major areas of warning in state today. There is an Air Quality Warning in the southwestern corner of the state. This warning is in effect until Tuesday at 1PM. There is a smaller portion of this warning in Carbon and Albany counties in effect until Wednesday at 1PM. In the northeastern corner, there is a Fire Weather Warning in effect until Tuesday at 8PM for the latest issued warning.
Temperature are continuing to be on the warmer side today. Across the state, temperatures are in the 70s and 80s. Overnight, temperatures will drop to the 30s and 40s. With this frontal passage, temperatures are not going to warm back up for a couple of days. High temperatures tomorrow are not going to be much different than tonight’s low temperatures. Tomorrow’s high temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s. It is going to be chilly and wet, be prepared with jackets and umbrellas tomorrow!
