CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Despite Wyoming’s high-risk state numbers and low vaccination rates, currently at 37.68% for adults and 32% for eligible children’s vaccines in the U.S.

And unlike other hospitals that have created vaccination mandates for staff, Cheyenne Regional Hospitals and affiliated Medical Group Clinics are opting for a more “carrot” than “stick” approach.

This strategy has resulted in a staff with a 75 percent vaccinations rate thanks to hospital vaccination incentives.

Employees who are currently fully vaccinated or get fully vaccinated by October 31, 2021, will be eligible to receive one of the incentives.

Full‐time employees or those with full-time contracts will have the choice of 16 hours of paid time off or a bonus of $600.

Part‐time employees or those with part-time contracts will have the choice of 8 hours of PTO or a bonus of $300, and PRNs or as-needed employees will receive a bonus of $150.

“If people are getting vaccinated they are much less likely to give it to you...you don’t even have to be old to die of Covid. People in their 20s and 30s are dying from Covid, there’s no way to tell who thats going to be. The more people we have vaccinated in our community the less people will die,” said Dr. April Kranz, M.D. Pediatric Hospitalist for CRMC.

The Cheyenne Regional announced this incentive program to employees in mid-July.
