Cheyenne Firefighters Local 279 to Host 4th Annual Chili Cook Off
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - This weekend, the Cheyenne Firefighters of Local 279 will have its annual first responders’ chili cook off. They Cheyenne Firefighters will be using the event to raise money in an attempt to “Fill the Boot”, which is a fundraiser that has been going on for 66 years.
Money raised will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Others that will be participating in the cook off include other emergency county agencies, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations in Wyoming (AFL-CIO).
The chili will be judged in 4 categories: the best red, the best green, the best exotic and the hottest chili.
“We do like pushing this event kind of more into the actual fall weather,” said Derek Pollnow, spokesperson for the Cheyenne Firefighters. “Obviously we contend with the very questionable Wyoming-type weather, whether it’s really windy, really cold or even really hot has it has been the last couple of days. But, we are looking forward to a really great weekend, whether no matter the weather, we’re just looking forward to a great event to be out there amongst our community and continue to raise money for MDA.”
It will take place at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza this Saturday, October 2nd, from 11am-2pm.
