Warm Weekend With Clouds and Smoke
24 September 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Temperatures and conditions outside today remained very similar to what we had going on yesterday. Mostly clear skies with a light breeze and seasonable temperatures. Enjoy it while you can because it is going to warm up significantly over the weekend and stay that way until the next big system moved through later next week. The smoke is sticking to the cities near the southern border for now, but will end moving north and covering much of the state going into tomorrow. While the smoke is not very heavy, we can expect some hazy conditions and maybe even a few air quality warnings.
The only weather system moving through that I can see affecting us for this weekend is a warm front to our north and a trough that reaches down into the state. As a result, cloud cover will increase for the northern half going into the weekend, but not much in terms of rain chances. We will see much warmer and well above average temperatures going into the weekend, and same goes for the surrounding states thanks to that warm front.
Tonight looks to be a good night for football. Temperatures will be dropping quickly once the sun goes down so I would recommend a light jacket or blanket in case you are staying in the stands. Tomorrow, the Cowboys go over to Storrs, Connecticut. It will certainly be on the warmer side, but there is a chance of rain, so keep that in mind. Tonight, temperatures are expected to be very similar to what we saw last night. Very seasonable overnight before warming back up for the weekend. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s throughout much of the state. We don’t have a significant cool down in the forecast until later next week.
