Slight Cool Down Tomorrow, Warm Weekend Ahead
16 September 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Other than the abnormally high heat today, it was a relatively nice day outside. A couple of clouds rolled in and the breeze helped to keep it feeling a little cooler. The haze is back in the forecast as it is still starting to come in from the west. Based on the forecast data, it looks to continue that trend tomorrow as well. Luckily, we aren’t seeing the whole state covered in air quality alerts like we saw last week. Lots of fire weather watches and warnings right now due to the dry conditions, gusty winds, and high heat.
The cold front that was to our north has moved through the northern half of the state leaving those cities with more seasonable temperatures. As expected, the front has stalled out, but will continue moving south leaving us with slightly cooler temperatures overnight and for tomorrow afternoon. Most models are pointing toward some isolated showers to the north and some clouds moving into the south, but that is it. The biggest thing we will notice is the return of the strong wind gusts starting tonight and lasting for the weekend.
Overnight, temperatures will drop off quickly thanks to front to even below seasonable levels. Lower 40s and 30s are expected for much of Wyoming with 20s out to the west. Tomorrow, temperatures will still be on the warm side but much cooler than today with a good mix of 80s and 70s with some 60s out to the west of course. This won’t last long as conditions will warm right back up for the weekend. After that, storms move through and we can see a big shift in our weather pattern early next week.
