Warm But Clear All Week
15 September 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - With the cold front gone and high pressure dominating much of the region, we are seeing well above average temperatures all around the state with lots of mid to upper 80s and even some lower 90s in the easternmost portions of Wyoming. This trend is expected to continue throughout the rest of the week and into your weekend. Smoke is trying to take advantage of the situation as we see some more moderate smoke conditions sneaking into the western and central regions of the state. Expect the National Weather Service to issue a few air quality warnings as a result.
On our surface map, there is another cold front to our northwest that looks to be coming this direction. Do not get too excited as it is expected to hit the northern cities and cool them off slightly, then stall out over top of us. Unfortunately, this has been the trend over the last month with these fronts just not having enough strength to bring us those fall-like temperatures. I don’t suspect much rain from this front, just some sprinkles in the northern cities, but I do see some clouds moving through tomorrow afternoon. Winds will continue gusting to about 30-40 MPH in some places overnight and into tomorrow afternoon, especially as the front is moving through.
Tonight, temperatures will not get all that cool considering it got so warm today, that it’ll take some time for the surface to lose all that energy. As a result, lows will be in the 50s and 40s with the western cities seeing those 30s. Tomorrow, expect another hot one with possible record breaking temperatures. Most places can see those upper 80s and even lower 90s. Later in the week, we can see a slight cool down on Friday from that front, then back up to warm again by the weekend.
