Cooler Today, Warmer Tomorrow
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
There was a foggy start to the morning, but the sun is out now and ready to shine. On the radar and satellite, we can see the system that moved through yesterday continuing to push to the East. As it continues moving out, there are a few clouds lingering behind. There is a chance of seeing some clouds this afternoon/ early evening.
In the overnight hours, all clouds will clear out. The sky will continue to be clear through tomorrow. Wind speeds are going to pick up tomorrow. Sustained wind speeds are forecast to be in the teens to the twenties tomorrow afternoon. These faster wind speeds will continue through tomorrow evening. The winds will calm into the overnight hours.
As far as the smoke forecast goes, the heaviest of the smoke today is seen in the southwestern corner, near Evanston and Rawlins. As tomorrow afternoon approaches, Sheridan and Gillette will see a heavier pocket of the smoke, though much lighter than what they experienced even last week. By Wednesday night, the northwestern corner will see moderately heavy smoke moving back in.
There is a broad area of the state today under a Fire Weather Watch. This watch is in effect until Wednesday night at 8PM.
High temperatures today were slightly cooler compared to yesterday. Majority of the state is seeing temperatures in the 70s. Tonight, temperatures will cool into the 40s for most of the state. The northwestern corner will experience low temperatures in the 30s. Tomorrow will be slightly warmer than today. The northeastern corner and the eastern border will have high temperatures back in the 80s.
