Cold Fronts Helping Us Out
13 September 2021
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - After many days last week of record high temperatures, we had a cold front come through to help us achieve much more seasonable temperatures. As a result, our rain chances are up and the winds are really strong. This does help out our smoke forecast significantly. On our warning map, there is only one air quality alert for south of Riverton. Based on the forecast, we can expect to still see some light haze throughout the state but not enough for any new warnings to be issued.
This is thanks to the rain we saw over the weekend and earlier today as well as the strong wind gusts throughout the state. There is another cold front just to the north of the current system making it’s way through. This will increase our rain chances going into the evening hours and provide a slight chance of showers for tomorrow. Afterwards, we can expect to see mostly clear skies with breezy conditions for the rest of the week.
Tonight, temperatures will be much closer to seasonable levels despite the chances for evening showers and the increase in cloud cover all around. Lows will be in the lower 50s for the southeast with 40s for the rest of the state with he exception of the west which can see 30s and even 20s tonight. Tomorrow, only a slight chance of showers for much of the region with highs even cooler than what we saw today. Temperatures in the 60s and 70s all around. Later in the week, expect mostly clear skies, breezy conditions, and warmer temperatures.
