CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - All throughout the nation, United States citizens have honored those who lost their lives on the attacks on 9/11, 2001. The Wyoming Bombers U11 Baseball team did the same, but through a new tradition.

Today marked their first ever “Around The Bases” Memorial Run. The team began running the bags at 9:11 AM, touching 412 plates. This is the number of Firefighters, Police Officers, and EMS workers who died during that event.

They invited first responders from around Cheyenne to attend as a symbol of gratitude for what they do for our nation.

They also had flags for the 13 service members lost in he Islamic Attack at the Kabul Airport.

While it was just the Bombers this year, their goal is to expand the event and incorporate more teams around the city.
