CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Representative Liz Cheney was in Jackson on Friday to honor the fallen Wyoming Marine Rylee McCollum’s homecoming with his family. Cheney later spoke of her plans for 9/11 and the state of Afghanistan.

On Saturday, she’ll travel to Shanksville to commemorate the heroes of 9/11 and Flight 93 with former President George W. Bush and her Father Dick Cheney.

Cheney also discussed the Biden administration and Afghanistan on Friday, stating that Congress needs to oversee the withdrawal’s organizational process.

“As we see the catastrophe of the Biden administration withdrawal from Afghanistan, it’s our reminder of how important it is for those of us in Congress to conduct the oversight we need to conduct to make sure that we get to the bottom of what happened,” said Cheney.

Cheney also submitted an amendment into the national authorization act last week to establish a bipartisan commission to review the war in Afghanistan, how the withdrawal was carried out and what our future security will look like.
