CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The #4 Cheyenne East Football (1-1) season got off to a roaring start in Week 0...for the first 15 or so minutes.

The T-Birds built up a 28-0 2nd Quarter lead over Thunder Basin in our first Friday Night Frenzy Game of the Week of 2021, but then it all came crashing down. The Bolts unloaded and came all the way back to beat East 39-34.

“We played a good defense in the first quarter of that Thunder Basin game and we knew if we could play on all four quarters of that we could win,” said East Senior Offensive and Defensive Lineman Braxton Rosner.

The Thunderbirds then needed a bounce-back performance in Week 1 against Natrona County. They got just that as they survived a nailbiter in Casper. East stopped NC’s go-ahead two-point conversion attempt and won the ball game 14-13.

“I think that now that we’ve done that, we can officially say as a team that we can do this,” said East Junior Offensive Tackle Trevor Eldridge. “We have the heart to do this and that we can stop teams on the goal line and we need to and make big plays.”

On to Week 2...

Cheyenne East’s Week 2 opponent is coming off a monster win. Campbell County High School blew out Laramie 48-3 in Gillette last week. The win moves the Camels to (1-1) on the season.

Campbell County hopes to defeat East for the first time since 2016. That was the last year before Thunder Basin and Campbell County became two different high schools.
