CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - 10 Casper community members were recognized for their service in the Casper community. These community members were nominated by peers for their work with kids, seniors and more.

Miamie Sleep, the Founder of Mimi’s House, is the 2021 Jefferson Award winner. Sleep said she’s grateful for her family’s support. “Thanks to my patient husband and son for all of the late nights and me being gone a lot,” Sleep said.

Ed Buchanan, the Wyoming Secretary of State and keynote speaker said he’s glad he wasn’t in charge of choosing a winner. “You nominees give us a gift through your service not just the gifts you give to those individuals you touch on a daily basis. Your service inspires us and other community members,” Buchanan said.

Sleep was chosen by the national Jefferson Awards Board. The national awards will be live-streamed on Sept. 30.
