CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A local restaurant’s display shows respect for our fallen heroes in Afghanistan.

“Its one of the things Sanfords stand on, its our values. Talking about the people that we work with everyday and the people that keep us safe. Just it’s our way to give back to a community that takes care of us.”

Two brothers James and Willy Yates, opened their first Sanford’s restaurant in Gillette in 1992.

Since then, one of their restaurant’s core values has been to support the military. During 9/11, Sanford’s jumped their 10 percent discount to 15 percent for active and inactive members.

Today Sanford’s honors the fallen military in Afghanistan that lost their lives, evacuating military personnel and allies. They’ve set up a display at the restaurant entrance in an effort to show their support to military members present and passed.

Military and first responders are weaved throughout Sanford’s fabric, whether through family or employees, and they wanted to show a way of honoring them.

“That’s just the Wyoming way. Do it from scratch, do it from the heart and just take care of the people who take care of you.”
