CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - It was another hot and hazy day around the cowboy state. Temperatures reached the mid to upper 90s for much of the east while the rest saw those 80s. Luckily, it looks to be the last day of these conditions as a cold front is beginning to change things up for the start of September. Already, the smoke forecast is showing the smoke starting to clear up by tomorrow morning and into tomorrow evening. Granted, the smoke will still be heavy enough for the air quality warnings to stay in place.

We can see the cold front starting to creep into the northwestern corner of the state as the winds are beginning to pick up from the west. Overnight, the winds will be strong to the eastern side of Wyoming moving to the north. This will actually help move out the stationary front sitting over the Nebraska panhandle and make room for the cold front. Storms will start coming in from the southwest by as early as tomorrow morning bringing a lot of rain to the southeastern side. While the cold front will take a few days to reach the capital, the increase in cloud cover and precipitation chances will cool us down.

I am not expecting any severe weather as the Storm Prediction Center just has the general thunderstorm risk in effect for the whole state. We will be sure to keep you updated on social media if anything changes. Tonight, expect another warm as the clouds will begin moving in not allowing us to cool off too much. I can deal with that because we do have cooler temperatures in the forecast for tomorrow, on top of the showers. 70s and 80s all around for the highs with a couple of 60s in the higher elevations. Scattered showers and storms are expected for much of the week with those cooler temperatures sticking with us for a little bit. This should help our drought situation as long as the models hold true.
