Casper woman giving out haircuts for kids and adults with disabilitiies
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A lull in appointments made a Casper woman’s salon in the Wolcott Galleria pretty quiet. How she wants to help the community could fill it up fast.
Chelsea Morgan, a Casper cosmetologist, is hoping to help out kids and adults with disabilities by cutting their hair before they go back to school. “I’ve learned with some kids you have to be very gentle and explain to them what you’re doing,” Morgan said.
Morgan has an eight-year-old who was recently diagnosed with autism. Raising him over the years has opened her eyes to what these families experience. “Certain days there are times where he can have loud noises and struggles with something else. I’ve learned there’s a lot of differences for each child,” Morgan said.
Getting a haircut can be stressful for and Morgan wants to give them a safe place to be. “I really want to officer the chance for these children to come in. They don’t have to get a haircut I just want a place where they can build their comfort level and be able to come in and know where they’re at and know who I am. We can work to the point where I can cut their hair,” Morgan said.
Morgan’s salon is located at 136 S. Wolcott in the Wolcott Galeria next to Toy Town.
