Smoke And Rain Are On The Way

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

The past several days have been absolutely gorgeous outside. There has been lots of sun and very few fluffy cloudy in the sky. This morning, everything is starting off quite calm. There are light clouds moving throughout the southeast, and the sun is able to shine once again. Casper, this morning, received what the southeast will be experiencing later on today. Recently on the radar and satellite, the heavier clouds are beginning to approach the southeast corner.

Heavier cloud coverage is going to be moving into the southeast corner of the Cowboy State. With this heavier cloud coverage, the rain chance will also increasing. Scattered showers are expected to make a return to the southeast during this afternoon and early evening. Though showers are what it planned for this afternoon, some of the showers may turn into thunderstorms. There is a General to Marginal Risk of thunderstorms within the southeast corner today, provided by the Storm Prediction Center.

Smoke is also going to be returning to the eastern half of the state. Over the past several days, the heaviest of the smoke pockets has been in the western half of the state and mostly along the border. By this afternoon and into late tonight, the heavy smoke will begin pushing towards the eastern border of the Cowboy State. Friday afternoon, the moderately heavy smoke will reach the eastern border. The heaviest will be seen in Casper and Gillette. By earlier Saturday morning, the heavy smoke should sink towards the southern border. Evanston and Rawlins will then see the heaviest smoke areas.
