LCCC Athletic Informational and Sports kick off Thursday
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The LCCC Athletic Department held an informational meeting Thursday morning regarding the Athletic Program.
The department spoke about the “4 pillars” of success for their student-athlete program. The pillars help students excel in the classroom, excel on the competition field, and become involved on the campus and the greater Cheyenne community.
“Cheyenne gives us great support and we want to find ways to pay that forward and pay them back for what they invest in us,” said Cindy Henning, Athletic Director for LCCC.
According to Henning, student-athletes generally have a higher graduation and transfer rate. They also hold higher GPAs than general students, not only at LCCC but nationally.
All to help facilitate their next steps in their education and athletic careers. Student-athletes will also be expected to follow the R2B (Return 2 Business) Covid protocol.
Which includes masking indoors, social distancing, hand washing, regular Covid screening, and available voluntary vaccinations to keep them safe and competing.
The men’s and women’s soccer team kick-off is today and Volleyball starts tomorrow. Competitive gaming or “E” sports will begin in September as well.
