Smokey and Stormy
What We Can Expect Today and Tomorrow
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
This morning, a few showers were pushing to the southeast and dissipating from Casper. Other than that, clouds have been fairly consistent here in the southeast corner today and staying heavy as well. Today, heavy smoke is located in the northwest and effecting Jackson, Yellowstone NP, and to the south of Sheridan. Tomorrow, Riverton will be added into the numbers of places seeing moderately heavy smoke. Tomorrow afternoon though, the smoke will push back into the southeast corner effecting Casper and Cheyenne again. By Sunday, we can see the really heavy smoke returning to the western border.
With the smoke staying in the northwest corner, that is also where an Air Quality Warning has been placed today. This area of warning also includes Casper. The Air Quality Warning is in effect until Friday (today) at 1PM.
High temperatures today are in the 80s statewide, with exception of a few random spots. We will cool into the 40s and low 60s tonight. Tomorrow, temperatures will heat back up into the low and mid 90s for the northeast corner.
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecasted to occur this early evening as well. SPC has a slight risk over the southeast corner, so severe weather is likely. Tornadic activity tonight is unlikely, after looking at forecast severe weather thresholds.
