CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Natrona County School District is busy preparing for a great start to the school year. If you have previously used NCSD transportation, you might be thinking about bus registration, but this year, there’s a slight change.

“New this year, only new riders to NCSD Transportation or those families that may have moved from the previous year will need to complete the registration process,” said Tanya Southerland, the Director of Public Relations for NCSD.

If you are an existing bus rider and have not moved, you do not need to register for transportation.

This year, Natrona County School District Transportation will be utilizing a student transportation card. Every student will swipe their card as they enter and exit the bus. Parents will have the ability to see their child’s location and know when they will at their destination.

“The nice thing about that also is that right before school, they will be receiving a notification and they will be able to track that bus when it comes into a zone close to their house, maybe it’s five minutes out, so that they know the bus is getting close,” said Sydney Webb, the Director of Transportation for NCSD.

NCSD wants students in the community to have an enjoyable experience on school buses. The bus drivers want to make sure students and their families know that they are safe on their way to and from school.

“It is extremely important to each and every one of our bus driver to build that relationship with these students. It starts their day off awesome and it really builds that sense of community and each one of our bus drivers want to be part of their school family,” said Webb.

Natrona County School District also wants to remind bus riders to make sure they are always ten feet back from a bus stop and to always make sure once they are on the bus, they are sitting with their hands and feet are out of the aisle at all times.
