Cheyenne Police Department Welcomes Two New Officers
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Press Release) - The Cheyenne Police Department (CPD) is pleased to announce the hiring of two new police officers. Talmage Peden and Jeremiah Keslar were sworn in as Cheyenne Police Officers on Monday, August 2 at the Cheyenne Public Safety Center.
The new officers will continue their formal training at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy located in Douglas, WY. Officer Keslar is a native of Cheyenne, WY and is the third generation of his family to pursue a career in law enforcement. During the ceremony, his father, Captain Jared Keslar shared that carrying on the family tradition of police service has been a lifelong goal for his son.
“This is something that Jeremiah has been working toward for a long time. We are very proud.”
Officer Peden is originally from Clarksville, Tennessee but moved to Wyoming to attend school. He shared that community service motivated his decision to become a police officer.
The CPD’s mission is “Protecting the Legend” by working in cooperation with Cheyenne’s citizens to lead the charge in preventing crime and defending the rights of the community. In their new roles, Keslar and Peden will be tasked with the duties of serving and protecting Wyoming’s capitol, and its largest city. City officials, officers, members of the department and family members attended the swearing-in ceremony and wished the new officers the best of luck and success in their careers.
“These officers have the community-oriented mindset that aligns with the culture of our department,” said Chief of Police, Mark Francisco. “We are very proud to welcome them to our team.”
