Beginning of the Cool Down
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
We have finally reached the moment we have wanted all week. We are beginning the cool down going into the weekend! This morning, the radar and satellite showed lots of heavy cloud coverage in the center and northeastern corner of the state with lots of thunderstorms. The southeast corner was fairly clear to the start of this morning. Now, the radar is showing the early morning showers and clouds lifting northeast, and there are a good amount of clouds in the southeast.
Air Quality Warnings have expanded in size today. The warning is now three separate warnings, one in the northeast corner and the other in the north and central portion of the state, and the last along the eastern border. With all of the smoke moving in from the western fires, these warnings are going to continue for a while. Like previously mentioned, there are three warnings. In the northeast corner, that part of the warning is in effect until Thursday (today) at 1PM. The other in the north and central portion of the state is in effect until Thursday (today) at 1:30PM. The last warning along the eastern border is in effect until Friday at 1PM. Clouds and showers have relieved the state of fire weather risks today though.
Today is the beginning of of our weekend cool down! High temperatures today are going to be warm, but not hot like what we have seen. Temperatures are ranging from the 70s to the low 90s. The western border maintains to be the cooler portion of the state, seeing temperatures in the 70s. The rest of the state was seeing upper 80s and 90s. It is going to feel incredible after a week of sweating the moment you step out the door.
Showers moving in this afternoon will continue being seen throughout the weekend. Today’s afternoon showers will be very scattered and very hit or miss. It may be smart to place the umbrella in the trunk of the car, just in case you find yourself in a pop up shower. Tomorrow, we will have a greater chance of seeing rain. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will make an appearance. These clouds and showers will continue cooling temperatures down as we get further into the weekend.
