Just One More Hot Day
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
The start to this morning gave us hope that we were going to see cooler conditions. As you may have walked out the door this morning to go wait in line at the Pancake Breakfast, temperatures were mild, there was a slight breeze, and the sky was clear. It was a very comfortable start to our mornings. The radar and satellite showed that there were plenty of clouds along the western half of the state, as well as cutting through the center. This pattern left the southeast corner clear of any clouds or precipitation. Even currently, the southeast corner is clear as the clouds rotate along the northwestern corner with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms.
This morning, the state was left with only one warning. An Air Quality Warning rests in the north and central part of the state. Yesterday’s warnings graphic had over half of the state under an Air Quality Warning. Today, there is only the one and it is in effect until this afternoon at 1:15PM. Smoky and hazy conditions are expected to continue on for several days, as fires in the west are continuing to burn. On our Fire Outlook, there is an Elevated Fire Risk in the northeast corner, as well as a Dry Thunderstorm Risk in the most northwest corner.
A lot of the state today is already beginning the cool down into the weekend. The western border is seeing high temperatures remaining in the 80s with help from heavy cloud activity and showers. The center of the state is in the 90s today, which is a good thing after several days of temperatures pushing into the triple digits. The hottest temperatures today have rotated to the southeast border, where Wheatland and Torrington are seeing high temperatures today of 101 degrees.
Tomorrow, every city through the Cowboy State is going to notice as we continue into the much needed cool down. We will see temperatures ranging from the 70s in the northwest to the mid 90s in the southeast. The western border will have temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s. The south and central part will have temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Everywhere else will have temperatures in the 90s. This will begin to feel amazing with cooler temperatures and a little bit of cloud coverage. From here, temperatures will only go down.
