Results from Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo: Day One
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Cheyenne Frontier Days has officially begun, with July 24 marking the first day of rodeo competition at Frontier Park.
Bareback Bronc began the festivities, with Matt Turner scoring a round-high 77 on the day. Bodee Lammers brought home the second-highest tally at 75. Mike Fred (73.5) and Keenan Hayes (73) moved on to the next round, with Shawn Perkin (70) just missing the cut-off.
Braden Richardson (82.5) was the only one to make it out of the earliest group, but wound up second behind Mason Spain’s 84 score. Jesse Hopper’s 79.5 and Parker Breding’s 78.5 rounded out the qualifying four.
The only recorded score from Rookie Saddle Bronc came from Kody Rinehart, who managed a 71 score.
Saddle Bronc produced plenty of high scores, with none topping the 84.5 set by Sterling Crawley. Logan Cook’s 84 came close, but had to settle for second on the day. Hardy Braden (81.5) and Cameron Messier (80) compete the final four. Other notable scores came from Dawson Dahm (79), Dean Wadsworth (78), Dusty Hausauer (77), Parker Kempfer (73.5), and Jake Burwash (69).
Barrel Racing made it to the quarter finals, with no one clocking it over 19 seconds in the round,. Jessica Routier’s 17.41 was the best of the round, with Jana Bean, Stevi Hillman, and Shelly Mull also finishing under 18 seconds.
