Relay for Life event happening in-person July 23
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Relay for Life walk will be on July 23 at the former Sear’s parking lot starting at 6 p.m. This event is to raise funds for people going through cancer treatments.
“We are so excited to be back and having more of a traditional event,” said Bill Junge, the North Region Cancer Control manager. They are aware that COVID-19 can still be spread, and have a drive-through option for people who aren’t comfortable being in a crowd of people.
The funds from this event will go to help people learn about their diagnoses. “Our cancer specialists answer our calls 24/7 and can connect people with an oncology nurse or if they have questions about a certain medicine or side effects of that medicine. Sometimes people are just lonely or don’t know what to ask the doctor,” Junge said.
Community members can register here or register at the event.
They also have a program where patients can connect to volunteers who can drive them to doctor’s appointments. This event is on pause to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Junge said they hope to bring it back soon.
