Casper Horseheads welcome Expedition League’s best for All-Star Game

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Expedition League’s best players from its first half were all at Mike Lansing Field on Tuesday. The All-Star Game took place with teams being split between the Lewis and Clark Divisions.
The Casper Horseheads had five representatives on the Lewis side.
During the pregame, there was plenty of pomp and circumstance to mark the occasion. Each individual player was introduced on the field and given a round of applause by an anxious crowd of baseball fans.
Early on, the hitters were anxious, too. As the old baseball saying goes, “Good pitching beats good hitting any day.”
No runs were scored during the first four and a half innings, and there were plenty of wild swings and misses. As hitters turned back to the dugout, they seemed to wish their teammates luck, or maybe give them some tips on how to handle their impending doom.
Lewis’ bats broke out in the fifth inning though. Horseheads Eric Erato and Ryan Callahan helped drive in two of the team’s three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to stake the squad with a 3-0 lead.
They were unable to hold onto the lead late. The Clark hitters found their swings in the top of the eighth inning and were able to hold on for a 5-3 victory.
The Expedition League will begin the stretch run towards the postseason on Thursday.
