Another Hot and Cloudy Day
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
The system that we have been watching the past couple of days is continuing to push east today. The last bit of clouds and rain showers will get through the state today. There were showers in Rawlins this morning. As the system continues moving through, we have seen showers pop up near Casper and are expecting to see afternoon showers this afternoon in Cheyenne.
The scattered rain showers across the state and the high cloud coverage has helped keeping temperatures a little cooler than what they could have been. This has also helped reduced the amount of area under Fire Weather Warnings or Air Quality Warnings. Yesterday, over half of the state was under a Fire Weather Warning. Today, the state is completely cleared of all warnings. There is still the slightest risk of Dry Thunderstorms in the most northwest corner of the state.
A few of us will see some afternoon showers today. The Storm Prediction Center has the state under a General Thunderstorm Risk today, as the system continues moving through. Tomorrow, the majority of the state is going to remain in that General Thunderstorm Risk, but the northeast corner will be in a Marginal Thunderstorm Risk. Gusty winds, Heavy rain, and a chance of small hail are all possible.
Temperatures today are feeling a bit cooler, thanks to the system moving across with rain and lots of clouds. High temperatures across the state today are in the 80s and 90s. Cheyenne is going to see a high temperature of 88 degrees today. Casper will see a high of 94 degrees. Tonight, we will cool back down into the 50s and 60s for our low temperatures. We will see a slight increase in temperatures again tomorrow. Much of the eastern half of the state will be back in the mid to upper 90s. Cheyenne’s high temperatures forecast for tomorrow is 90 degrees. Only a few minutes north, Wheatland and Torrington are going to be pushing the triple digit border again.
